Wendy Thomas Russell is an award-winning journalist, parenting writer and book publisher. She has authored two books — Relax, It’s Just God: How and Why to Talk to Kids About Religion When You’re Not Religious and ParentShift: Ten Universal Truths That Will Change the Way You Raise Your Kids — and is the founder and publisher of Brown Paper Press.
Relax, It's Just God: How and Why to Talk to Your Kids About Religion When You're Not Religious was released in March 2015 — four years after Russell began a blog of the same name. Reviewers, readers and even some celebrities have said some insanely nice things about the book, and she is exceptionally grateful to each and every one of them. ParentShift: Ten Universal Truths That Will Change the Way You Raise Your Kids was a join project with parenting educators Ty and Linda Hatfield. ParentShift was released in May 2019 and is being translated into Mandarin for release in China in 2020.
In 2014, Russell founded a small publishing house with fellow author Jennifer M. Volland. The mission of Brown Paper Press is to engage readers on topics of contemporary culture through quality writing and thoughtful design. The press, focuses almost exclusively on “progressive nonfiction,” that is books with a progressive bent and that seek to push us to expand our thinking in some way. BPP recently released its seventh title.
